Warning!
Once you become a
Christian, the devil will tempt you to and encourage you to sin, and
appempt to expose you to false doctrine. Your faith is tender,
and you are prone to believe anything you are told about the Bible,
Jesus, ect. You should read your Bible everyday, and compare what
you are taught with what you are reading to make sure that the
teachings are Biblical.
False Doctrines you
may encounter (with my response in parenthesis):
1. "If you can't speak in tongues,
you don't have the Holy Ghost and you aren't saved." (You receive the
Holy Ghost at salvation, not after (Romans 8:9). Speaking in
tongues is a spiritual gift and not everyone has this gift.)
2. "Water baptism saves you." (If
you're saved, you'll get baptized out of obedience to God. It cannot
save you. The gospel and baptism are separate - 1 Cor 1:17 You
are baptized to identify with the death, burial, and resurrection of
Jesus Christ, and to symbolically show the washing away of sins.
1 Peter 3:21)
3. "You aren't saved if you go to
church on Saturday." (Colossians 2:16, Let no man therefore judge you
in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the
new moon, or of the sabbath days.)
